COVID 19 Update for Brampton Lawn Bowlers

Greetings Fellow Brampton Lawn Bowling Club Members

Hopefully this note finds you and your families safe and healthy.

As the global pandemic continues around us in Brampton, it is indeed sad that our Club was not able to open for outdoor bowling this past summer season.  As you no doubt know, the City of Brampton wisely kept recreation centres and our greens facility closed all summer due to the Covid 19 virus.  Thus, despite the Ontario Lawn Bowls Association return to play guidelines that some Clubs were able to follow, our Brampton Club was not able to participate.

Participation in lawn bowling games along with our usual much enjoyed fun and friendship with fellow members has been deeply missed this summer.

Your Club Executive remain enthusiastically committed to ensuring that lawn bowling returns to our Club next season assuming that the pandemic is no longer with us.

As the virus spreads again this Fall, particularly in Peel Region, your Executive is monitoring the situation to determine if it will be possible to hold indoor Short Mats games as in previous years.  It is a possibility that there could be a shortened season starting in January, 2021.  Please monitor our blog for any further developments.

While we wait until we can bowl and socialize again together, please take care.

Until we can meet again in person,

Brampton Lawn Bowling Club Executive Committee

Excited to Congratulate Brampton Lawn Bowling Club Member Alex Graham as a 2020 Inductee into the Ontario Lawn Bowls Association Hall of Fame

Congratulations Alex Graham from your fellow lawn bowlers at the Brampton Lawn Bowling Club

The Brampton Lawn Bowling Club is delighted to celebrate your recent recognition as a 2020 Inductee of the Ontario Lawn Bowls Association's Hall of Fame, Long Term Athlete Development Category.  This honour is a much deserved award that reflects your dedication to the sport of lawn bowling at a local, provincial and national level for many years.

Among his many accomplishments in the sport, Alex is an Honourary Life Time member of the Brampton Club and served the Club in many capacities including two years as President.  Contributing to the game for many years, Alex is a Certified Lawn Bowling Coach and a National Level Umpire.  His many successes playing the game include winning several Ontario Championships and a Canadian Silver Medal.

Alex was also inducted into the Brampton Sports Hall of Fame in 2012.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, and the cancellation of the in person OLBA Annual Meeting in April,  the formal presentation of the 2020 Hall of Fame Inductees has not yet been held.

Brampton Indoor Short Mat Lawn Bowling Cancelled for the Season

Greetings Fellow Bowlers
Due to the closure of City of Brampton facilities and the current COVID-19 virus, the Brampton Lawn Bowling Club is cancelling the remainder of its indoor short mat season at Century Gardens.
The Club looks forward to another indoor season resuming next October.

In the meantime, of course the Club hopes to start its outdoor lawn bowling season on our greens adjacent to the Flower City Seniors Centre in Brampton.  As per the flyer posted in the blog below, our Open Houses are scheduled to start Saturday May 2, 2020.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on our outdoor greens for lots of fun.
